Setting Up a Custom RSS Feed Subdomain
Using your own domain helps reinforce your brand and gives you full control over your podcast’s feed URL. Instead of something like:
https://feeds.yellowball.fm/yourshow
you can use:
https://feed.yourdomain.com
This guide will walk you through the full setup process.
Note
Haven’t validated a domain yet? Start with our Domain Validation Guide first.
1. Open Your Show Settings
- In your Yellowball dashboard, click your show name at the top.
- Click the gear icon next to the show you want to configure.
2. Go to the RSS Feed Tab
- On the Edit Show screen, select the RSS Feed tab.
- Under Custom RSS Feed Subdomain, choose the domain you’ve already validated.
- Enter the subdomain you want to use (we recommend
feed
, but any subdomain works). - Click Save.
3. Configure the CNAME Record
After saving, Yellowball will display a CNAME record for your new subdomain.
- Log into your registrar or DNS provider and add the CNAME record exactly as shown.
- This tells the internet where to find your Yellowball-hosted feed.
- DNS changes may take up to 24 hours, but they typically update in 15 minutes or less.

4. Confirm the Subdomain is Active
Once DNS is set up correctly, you'll see a ✅ green checkmark next to the subdomain in Yellowball — that means it’s working.
Important: Don’t delete the CNAME record. It’s required to route traffic correctly. If removed, your custom feed URL will stop working.
You can now test the feed by visiting your new custom subdomain in a browser.
5. Enable the Custom Subdomain Redirect
At this point, your custom feed URL is live — but your listeners and podcast directories are still pointing to the old Yellowball feed.
To enable that:
- Click the Enable Custom Domain button in the RSS Feed settings.
- You’ll see a warning explaining what this does:
⚠️ Heads-up: Enabling this custom domain will redirect your RSS feed
https://feeds.yellowball.fm/yourshow
tohttps://feed.yourdomain.com
.To avoid disruptions, keep this redirect active for at least 30–60 days. If you have questions, open a support ticket.
- Click Save.
🎉 You’re All Set
Your new feed domain is now active, and Yellowball is redirecting traffic to it with a 301 redirect — which means all subscribers and directories will automatically follow the new URL.
If you need help at any point, open a support ticket and we’ll walk you through it.
